Born to a Zambian father and an English mother and raised in Scotland, Emeli Sande is an award-winning singer and songwriter. She shot into the limelight when she landed a feature on rapper Chipmunk’s “Diamond Rings” track. This became her first top 10 single on the UK Singles Chart. Her features on Professor Green’s “read all about it” and Labrinth’s “beneath your beautiful” were number one singles in the UK and Ireland. In 2012, her “Our Version of Events” album became the highest selling album of that year in the UK with over a million sales. It also spent ten non-consecutive weeks at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart. Her second studio album, “Long Live the Angels”, which was released in 2016 debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart. Sandé performed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics. She has also won notable accolades at the Brit Awards. In 2017, she received a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for services to music.
