NAMIBIA
According to the World Press Freedom report for 2020, Namibia is Africa’s best-ranked country and enjoys solid guarantees. For the second year in a row, Namibia has retained its top spot.
The country also retained its global ranking position of 23rd out of 180 countries with a 19.25 score. The report indicates that the country enjoys real freedom, but not without frequent threats.
State House spokesperson Alfredo Hengari in a statement, attributed Namibia’s top ranking to the country’s democracy and continued efforts towards “effective, transparent and inclusive governance.”
“Following yet another milestone in Press Freedom for Namibia, the Presidency reaffirms commitment to the Principles of the 1991 Windhoek Declaration,” he said.
