Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
In December, the wildebeest that left the Mara are off to the Great Plains in the south, and Serengeti National Park is a good place to witness the migration. The white bearded wildebeest give birth to almost 500,000 calves. The park’s mighty cats chase after the wildebeest in what makes for dramatic game drive viewing. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area, another Big Five spot within the Serengeti, is all green and prime at this time.
The Serengeti region is made up of the Serengeti National Park; the Ngorongoro Crater; the Maswa Game Reserve; the Ikorongo-, Grumeti-, and Loliondo-Controlled Areas; and the Maasai Mara National Reserve.
With one of the oldest ecosystems on earth, its flora and fauna have remained the same over millions of years. Large mammals are found in plenty in this region, which has the largest concentration of them globally. It also has two biosphere reserves and two World Heritage Sites.
The Serengeti National Park is therefore a great holiday destination principally because of its game-viewing adventure!
