Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique

The Bazaruto Archipelago is heaven on earth and a divine getaway in the Indian Ocean. Its clear blue waters host an array of colorful fish, sea horses, and whale sharks with opportunities for snorkeling, diving, sailing, surfing, and birding.

The archipelago comprises five main islands, namely Bazaruto, Paradise Island, Santa Isabel, Benguerra, and the small Bangué. Africa’s best beaches find their home here. The Bazaruto National Park has many bird species, including pink flamingos. It also has dolphins, green turtles, bushbucks, Nile crocodiles, and the largest remaining population of dugongs in Mozambique.

This park is one of the Indian Ocean’s largest parks and is significant to global marine conservation. Sand dunes, coral reefs, inland saline lakes, and tidal flats feature all over this archipelago. The Vilankulo Ruins are a good site to visit as one heads to Inchope.

This paradise is reputable as the “Pearl of the Indian Ocean” and distinguished as a Gift to the Earth by the World Wildlife Fund.
