Trump’s spiritual advisor claims she helped Mandela abolish apartheid, Mandela’s foundation reacts

The senior pastor at Florida’s City of Destiny Church and former President Donald Trump’s spiritual advisor, Paula White-Cain, on May 4 claimed she helped Nelson Mandela abolish apartheid in South Africa.

Per The Christian Post, White-Cain was addressing attendees at the Universal Peace Federation’s Peace Summit when she made those claims. The televangelist claimed she and Mandela started working after she experienced faith in 1984 and began offering help to homeless people by way of advocacy work.

“That advocacy started, and I would go to South Africa soon after that and build the first AIDS home in Pretoria, South Africa, and begin to work with Nelson Mandela to abolish apartheid,” White-Cain claimed in the address.

“Little did I know that God would take me [to] over 100 nations, multitudes all over the place to bring forth true transformation, ultimately bringing my path with mother [Hak Ja Han] Moon and being a part of this great organization.”

Hak Ja Han Moon’s late husband, Sun Myung Moon, founded the Unification Church in South Korea in 1954. But the church has stirred controversy over the years as critics have labeled it as a “cult.”

Following White-Cain’s claim about helping Mandela end apartheid in South Africa, The Christian Post contacted her office for more information about her relationship with the deceased freedom fighter. The news outlet, however, did not receive any response.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation also told the news outlet that it was unable to find anything on White-Cain after searching its archives. “We have searched our holdings and do not find anything on Paula White,” the foundation’s head of archive and research, Razia Saleh, said.

The foundation, which is based in the Southern African nation’s city of Johannesburg, has an “archive of the life and time, works and writings of its founder, the late Mr. Nelson Mandela.”

The foundation also states that its physical collections “include the handwritten papers, official records and unique artifacts from the personal archive of Nelson Mandela in addition to records from the Office of Nelson Mandela after his retirement as president of South Africa in 1999, and the records of related significant organizations and individuals.”

During the 2020 United States presidential election, Face2Face Africa reported that White-Cain led a marathon prayer service calling on “angels” to help Trump reach victory.

In the viral video of the service at the New Christian Destiny Centre, White could be heard saying, “I hear a sound of victory. The Lord says it is done. For I hear, victory, victory, victory!” She continues: “Angels are being dispatched right now.”

“Angels have been dispatched from Africa right now. They’re coming here, in the name of Jesus.”

“We break every demonic altar that has been erected over the White House, specifically Donald J Trump,” she said in the two-and-a-half long prayer meeting streamed on Facebook Live.
