Murchison Falls
Located in Buliisa district, Uganda, the Murchison Falls were explored by European explorers John Speke and James Grant in 1862. The site was later explored by Samuel and Florence Baker in 1863. Baker named the site Murchison Falls, after the renowned European geologist Roderick Murchison.
The falls are part of the larger River Nile, which divides Murchison National Park in two. The park is Uganda’s largest national park and popular for its large population of crocodiles. Visitors also have an opportunity to see a wide range of other wild animals, including lions, giraffes, antelopes, and elephants.
