Ssese Islands
Ssese Islands are an archipelago of 84 islands located on the northeastern side of Lake Victoria, Uganda. These islands share a boundary with the Kalangala district in southern central Uganda.
Before the arrival of European explorers, the Ssese Islands served as one of the most important spiritual sites for the Baganda people. Today, only 43 of the 84 islands are currently inhabited, with the smallest island covering less than 10,000 square kilometers while the largest island, Bugala Island, is more than 40 square kilometers.
