Wayne Brady, a 51-year-old actor and television host came out as pansexual the last year August.

Just days before Wayne Brady hosted the 35th GLAAD Media Awards, which honor films, television shows, video games, musicians, and works of journalism that fairly, accurately, and inclusively represent the LGBT community and issues relevant to the community, he said in an interview that his direct social media messages have evolved following his announcement.

“You know what? Yes, my DMs are popping, and it’s amazing,” Brady told E! News ahead of his hosting gig.

“I’ve never received an eggplant via email. It’s astonishing. Sorry. I understand how it feels to be approached by a random guy who says, “Hey, I like you so much, I’m going to show you my junk.” Like, no, dude, that’s not exactly my ideal calling card. However, thank you; I’m flattered.”

Brady clarified that, although he is receiving “attention from everybody,” he isn’t dating right now.

The 51-year-old actor and television host explained his excitement for the GLAAD Media Awards hosting role.

He declared, “I wanted to inspire change. Even before I could teach others about pansexuality, I had to educate myself on the subject. This is why I feel so liberated. How is that journey going? You might wonder, wait, am I gay? Are you bi? Do I look like this? Do I find her attractive? To him? This is strange. Is that accurate? All of the above is the response. I have the freedom to love any damn body. And now that I have that freedom and knowledge, I truly feel like an adult.”

Brady claimed that since coming out as pansexual, he has gotten a lot of support.

“I’ve received a ton of direct messages in his DM’s, emails, and texts from people who want to come out or change their work at a certain point in their lives.

Brady said at the time, “It’s never too late to take hold of your story…for teenagers, young adults, theater students, and young black men who question the idea of masculinity and what it all means.”
