Rwandan President Paul Kagame could not help but share his excitement after his second child and only daughter, Ange Kagame, welcomed her first child with her husband, Bertrand Ndengeyingoma.
Sharing the news on Twitter on Monday, Kagame, 62, confirmed he and his wife, Jeannette, are officially grandparents for the first time as of Sunday. He, however, did not disclose the baby’s gender.
“Since yesterday we are very happily and ‘officially’ grand parents. Congratulations A&B!! [Ange and Bertrand],” he shared. “What a joy!?”
The clearly exuberant granddad added: “First time is even more exciting!”
Ange and Bertrand tied the knot in a strictly-by-invitation wedding ceremony in 2019. Bertrand is an urban planner and graduate from the London School of Economics. Ange, born in Brussels in 1993, is a political science graduate from Smith College, Massachusetts.
Taking to Twitter to share family photos of the wedding ceremony including her father walking her down the aisle, Ange couldn’t help but share her excitement.
“I have found the one whom my soul loves”– Songs of Solomon 3:4,” she captioned in a photo of her and Bertrand holding hands.
She also shared group photos with her parents and siblings as well as her husband’s.
The couple earlier had their traditional marriage ceremony known as “Gusaba” at President Kagame’s country home in Ntebe in 2018.
