One of the charges brought against Marcus Jordan during his February 4 DUI arrest included cocaine possession. But authorities recently determined that the white substance, which was found in his possession at the time, was ketamine and not cocaine, TMZ Sports reported.

The white powder was tested on the spot by the officers who pulled Marcus over, with the substance initially reading positive for cocaine. But the Florida Department of Law Enforcement subsequently tested the powder, and it was ultimately determined that it was ketamine.

It is reportedly not unusual for ketamine to initially test positive for cocaine as both substances are white and have the same texture. Marcus’ cocaine possession charge has since been updated. He now faces charges of ketamine possession, DUI with property damage, and resisting arrest.

In Florida, cocaine is listed as a Schedule II drug while ketamine is is Schedule III, per TMZ Sports. As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Marcus was arrested in connection with the incident in Florida and booked into the Orange County Jail in Orlando.

A police report stated that two police officers spotted a blue Lamborghini SUV on train tracks in Maitland in the wee hours of February 4. One of the officers realized a part of the vehicle was on the tracks, while a portion of the tires were also sunk in the ground and repeatedly spinning, the report stated.

The report also stated that the Seminole County Sheriff’s office informed Maitland police about that blue Lamborghini SUV matching the description of a vehicle that initially drove away when their officers pulled it over.

One of the Maitland officers smelled an alcoholic beverage after approaching the car window, the report stated, adding that Marcus continually said that he had failed to negotiate the right turn and wanted assistance with removing the stuck vehicle from the tracks. Besides failing to exactly pinpoint where he was, the report also stated that Marcus’ speech was slurred and his eyes were red and bloodshot.

During the encounter, police bodycam video recorded Marcus disclosing who his father was. “I’m Marcus Jordan. I’m Michael Jordan’s son. I’m not doing anything wrong,” Marcus is heard saying. “I’m just trying to get home, and I made a wrong turn.”

The report stated that the officers attempted to search Marcus, but he did not comply. He also tried to prevent the door of the squad car from being closed. A white powdery substance that was found in his possession was determined to be cocaine following a test, per the report.

Marcus received a citation for driving under the influence and was charged with a DUI crash with property damage, possession of cocaine, and resisting an officer without violence. The 34-year-old was taken to the Orange County Jail where he was detained. He spent some hours in custody and was released after he posted bail.

Following his arrest and subsequent release, Marcus took to social media to break his silence. In a post on his Instagram story on February 6, Marcus, 34, provided an update on what he had been up to after his release from custody and also expressed his gratitude for the concerns shown.

“I appreciate everyone reaching out,” he wrote. “I’m focusing on @trophyroomstore right now and won’t be making any comments on recent media stories and my personal life.” He added: “I sincerely appreciate your concerns & thank you for your kind understanding.”
