White supremacy is still prevalent in these parts of Africa

People of Cape Verdean ancestry residing in Portugal are treated in a manner reminiscent of Blacks in America.

In a suburb called Cova da Moura, many of the citizens live in poverty and are eye-witnesses to violence and police brutality.

One case in point is Bruno Sousa, who was accused of throwing a rock at a police vehicle. Even after denying the charges, he was searched, beaten then taken to the local police station.

Sousa said, “They treat us like animals. It’s a black neighbourhood – they treat us like we’re all here to be exterminated.”
