It is a widely known fact that at F2F Africa, we love to support all things African. This notion also applies to fabrics, so it comes as no surprise, that when we noticed superstars, Nicki Minaj and Erkyah Badu in similar African wax print on the red carpet, we just had to pitch them against one another.
Erykah Badu first wore this starburst print in a dark blue printed romper to the fifth annual "Game Over" party in Dallas, TX. Ms. Badu completed her look with a gorgeous Proenza Schouler triple strand rope necklace from its Resort 2011 collection.
She also wore a beaded headband, which she wrapped over her flowing hair. It’s a shame we can’t see much of her African-inspired jumper, no thanks to that black trench she insisted on wearing over it!
Nicki Minaj, on the other hand, wore the style in yellow and black prints when she visited the Collins Academy for the Get Schooled Foundation in Chicago. Ms. Minaj accessorized her look with gold cuffs, a gold leaf retro choker, and brown open-toe booties. Always the true master of switching her red carpet style as much as her hair, Minaj choose to wear now semi-signature blond bob.
So F2F Africa Fashion readers, we have Nicki's vibrant yellow versus Erkyah's retro blue: Which Afrishionista wore the African wax print look best on the red carpet?
