The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, may be a political novice but she has wooed her way into the hearts of political loyalists of the Democrats, the Daily Mail reported. She is currently topping a poll of Democrats asking which woman they would vote for, the report said. She is in pole position for the presidential spot, only in a neck-to-neck position with vice president Kamala Harris but outpaced former FLOTUS Hilary Clinton in the poll.

U.S. President Joe Biden’s sister and political strategist Valerie Biden Owens has given her full backing if Markle decides to make a run for the White House. She thinks Markle is a good fit for a presidential candidate if she considers politics for the future, the Daily Mail said. Biden Owens expressed support for the idea of Markle entering politics, emphasizing the importance of having more women in the political system.

There have been speculations the Suits alum has intentions of pursuing a career in politics, with unconfirmed reports indicating it’s an ambition she has been nursing with top Democrats since she retired from royalty in 2020. Polling experts have pointed out that Markle’s name highlights the limited choices within the Democratic Party.

Biden Owens has had her political successes, notably playing a role in her brother’s White House bid and being nominated as an alternate representative to the United Nations. Markle’s interest in politics is not uncommon, with examples like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan transitioning from acting to politics.

However, President Biden is not fully on board with Markle and Prince Harry, as they requested to use Air Force One after the Queen’s funeral but were denied due to concerns about causing disruption.

The topic of Markle potentially running for the presidency has sparked interest and discussion, and while Biden Owens welcomes her to join the Democratic Party, there is still skepticism and opposition to consider.
