Standing for the ideology of the people:Former South African President Nelson Mandela is best known for this political virtue. Back in the day when South Africa was struck by the horrors of apartheid and racial discrimination, the African nationalist and democratic socialist took it upon himself to not only wage a revolution to dismantle the shackles of apartheid but also to fight for the rights of blacks while he practiced law (between 1943-1949). Although his anti-apartheid revolution incited fierce protests that led to his imprisonment for 27 years, Mandela still chose to fight for the beliefs and dignity of his people. Africa needs more Mandelas!
