Xzibit Teases ‘Pimp My Ride’ Reboot Amidst Controversy with Producers

Rapper Xzibit has hinted at a possible reboot of the iconic show ‘Pimp My Ride,’ sparking excitement among fans.

The show, which aired on MTV from 2004 to 2007, featured Xzibit as the host. It featured Xzibit transforming old cars into custom rides in extravagant ways.

On Wednesday, May 1, Xzibit shared a photo on Instagram of a classic American muscle car with his name emblazoned on the hood, accompanied by the caption: “It’s time to get back customizing rides.” He also included the date May 9, 2024, suggesting that something might be happening a week from the post.

Fans were quick to express their enthusiasm about the potential return of the beloved car makeover show.

Xzibit’s issues with Pimp My Ride producers

However, despite the tease, Xzibit’s relationship with the show’s producers has not always been smooth. In 2022, the 49-year-old rapper shared documents from ViacomCBS, criticizing the company for various allegations and revealing that the franchise had generated over $16 million since its inception.

He questioned why the company had profited so much from a show he carried while he felt he had been sidelined.

He claimed that the company had promised him a percentage of all merchandise sales, including streaming, but then removed his ‘name and likeness’ from all merchandise, including DVD sales, after the first season.

He also accused the company of editing out all of his music from all seasons to avoid paying him for his publishing.

Xzibit has previously dismissed any talk of returning to the show, which, after its cancellation, led to his bankruptcy. Despite this, the recent tease has left fans hopeful for a revival of the classic show.
