For most Africans and people of African descent, the issue of LGBT individuals and their rights has been rather dicey. Majority opinion is still yet to be swayed in favour of support for such individuals.

This notwithstanding, it is important to understand that people’s personalities and their capacities are not limited just because they are not straight.

This truth is clear for us to see in the lives of some of the finest artists in the Harlem Renaissance movement. Founded a literary and musical expressionist movement around the experiences of black people, the movement bequeathed to us geniuses and their works.

As life would have it, some of these individuals fell in someplace on the LGBT rainbow spectrum.
