Controversial rapper and producer Kanye West says he is now free from the clutches of the Democratic Party following his acceptance of Jesus.Speaking in an interview with veteran Los Angeles radio and morning show host, Big Boy, West said the Democratic Party has for years brainwashed the black community into patronizing abortion.
“We’re brainwashed out here, bro,” said West. “Come on, man. This is a free man talking. Democrats had us voting [for] Democrats with food stamps for years. What are you talking about? Guns in the 80s, taking the fathers out the home, Plan B, lowering our votes, making us abort our children…Thou shall not kill.”
Kanye West’s claims come on the back of Democratic presidential contenders’ unanimous support for abortion rights in general. According to USAFacts, reported abortions have dropped from 817,906 in 2004 to 638,169 in 2015. The plurality of abortions – about 44% – occur in the first 8 weeks of pregnancy, USAFacts reports.
“Reproductive rights are a constitutional right, and, in fact, every woman should have that right,” former Vice President Joe Biden said earlier this month during the Democratic presidential debate.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has made it harder for women to access abortion. Trump, like GOP presidents before him, expanded the global “gag rule,” which says overseas groups receiving U.S. assistance cannot provide abortions or even discuss abortion as an option with patients.
The administration also made sweeping changes to the Title X family planning program, issuing a domestic “gag rule” on doctors in the program, disallowing them from counseling patients on abortion.
West went further to double down his support for Trump in the interview, despite suffering heavy criticism. His critics argue that West’s support for Trump is against the black culture – a position he vehemently rejected.
“We are orphans bro. We are cultureless. We don’t have our own culture. We signed to culture vultures. We sighed our lives away, our contracts with contracts with culture vultures.
“Think about everything which is cultural. Taking a knee is cultural, wearing half fashion is cultural…is cultural… All these things are not owned by our culture. So, who designed the culture? What does it mean to do it for the culture? That’s why I do it for Christ,” he said.
In what had been described as surprisingly daring by fans of West, the rapper observed in an earlier interview that he asked his associates not to have premarital sex while working on his new album, Jesus is King.
West in recent times has taken pleasure in the teachings of the Bible.
“I was asking people to fast during the album. There were times where I was asking people not to have premarital sex while they were working on the album,” West said in the no holds barred three-hour interview with Beat’s 1’s Zane Lowe on Apple Music on Thursday.
