Global clothing and accessory brand, Nike, has launched its latest line of female swimwear for women who wear hijab.

The line which was announced on Tuesday will include a full-coverage swimsuit, the Nike Victory Swim Hijab, the Nike Victory Swim Tunic Top and the Nike Victory Swim Leggings.

“Its sleek, innovative silhouette provides a game-changing option for female athletes seeking full coverage and a full range of motion in the water,” Nike said on its website.

According to Nike, the outfits will be available globally at select retailers in California, New York City, London, Dubai, and online stores from February 1.

The designs which form a part of the company’s policy on inclusiveness will see women choose from a full-body swimsuit or individual pieces of all body types, abilities and aspirations.

Not only is it designed to be lightweight, but it is also breathable and fast-drying with UPF40+ sun protection, Nike said.

“The design of the Nike Victory Swim Collection serves a variety of needs from modesty preferences to sun protection and represents Nike’s commitment to inclusive design, providing more women with game-changing innovation to enjoy sport,” the company added.

This new line from Nike comes off the back of its performance Nike Pro Hijab released in 2017. The Nike Pro Hijab featured a single-layer pull-on design made from lightweight polyester in dark, neutral colors with tiny holes that make the fabric breathable and opaque.

Nike revealed that complains from Muslim athletes who wear traditional headscarf during competitions necessitated its latest release.

“The more we listened, the more possibility we saw to serve female athletes in new dimensions,” noted Martha Moore, Nike Creative Director, VP.

“As we continue broadening our vision for innovation, we’re excited to inspire more women to see themselves in sport by thinking creatively and designing inclusively.

“To us, Nike Victory Swim Collection shows the power of innovation to invite all women to discover the joy of sport,” she added.

“It doesn’t weigh you down, and it helped me swim better, It’s so different than any of the swimsuits I’ve ever seen, and I know I can wear this confidently,” Zahra Lari, a figure skater from the United Arab Emirates said in a review.
