Five Kenyan writers and the works that made them famous

African writers are hailed not only on the African continent, but globally as well because African writing is unique and true to telling tales from and about the continent through different lenses. Kenyan literature is said to be one of the richest in Africa and their writers have contributed immensely to projecting African writers.

Some of the first Kenyan literature dates to 1728 AD. It was a poetry text in Swahili by Mwengo. Ever since that time, Kenya has churned out prolific writers over the years whose exquisite writings range from poetry to prose and fiction to non-fiction.

Here are some writers from Kenya and the works that made them famous.
