Every woman wants to have that perfect wedding.
From the location, the dress to the cake, they want to ensure that everything goes on smoothly to make the ceremony memorable.
But no matter the plans, things are bound to go wrong. Here are six common mistakes brides make on their wedding day that can ruin the ceremony:
Starting hair and makeup too late
Procrastination. Too many brides make the mistake of waiting until the last minute to finalise details for their wedding, including their hair and makeup. The basic reason they give is that they don’t want those details to fade before their big moment. But waiting too long also means you are running out of time and this might ruin your big day. Get a professional stylist who will give you a look that can last all day.
Waiting until the night before to try out the wedding dress
Your dress should be ready for you to try it out at least one week prior to your wedding day instead of the night before the ceremony. This will give you ample time for any last-minute alterations. Your spa and beauty treatments should also come final days prior to your wedding. All these would enable you to relax and enjoy the big day with little stress.
Hiring a friend instead of a pro
Your friend or colleague might have a tripod and video camera to record the ceremony, but this doesn’t make them a professional videographer. They might have been DJing in high school, but that doesn’t mean they can make decisions as to the kind of music to play to make a great party. Despite being on a budget, it would be ideal to hire professionals to take care of these details, including food. And let them do their job without any interference. Allow them to do what you paid them to do while you enjoy the day.
Not delegating responsibilities
Most brides, on their big day, want to handle almost all details by themselves. But why stress yourself when family and friends could help you? Ask them to help you with tasks you might not be able to pay attention to, such as organizing the reception, collecting gifts and handling payments plus other matters. You can equally hire someone to do these if you can afford.
Not banning phones or changing into flats
After paying for professional pictures, most brides later realise that these images, especially those taken at the altar, are ruined with mobile phones. Just ban phones from the ceremony to save yourself this mess. And for brides who don’t change from heels to flats during the reception, they get back to their rooms after the ceremony with their feet hurting so bad. No bride should go through that pain on such a special day.
Wanting to please everyone
It’s your big day so don’t let the opinions of your mum, friend, or relative get in the way of what you believe is ideal for the ceremony.
