A trip to the Caribbean is not complete without a trip to the beach. The region has been touted as the best destination for people looking for some sand, sun and water.
With summer 2021 around the corner, popular travel and restaurant site TripAdvisor has released its list of the world’s best beaches for the year with some Caribbean destinations making the list.
The sandy blue beaches were reportedly selected based on quality as well as quantity of reviews and ratings by travelers between the period of January 1 and December 31, 2020. Though the Whitehaven Beach in Australia came up tops, a host of Caribbean beaches also occupied several spots on the top 25 list, with the Santa Maria Beach in Cuba taking the overall second best spot – making it the best beach in the region.
The platform described the beach as: “Incredibly fine white sand that feels like flour, tranquil water, and a nice little breeze… this place is paradise. Some days, you can see fish swimming around or even dolphins from close distance.”
The Nungwi Beach in Tanzania was the only African beach that appeared on the list, taking the 23rd position.
