The first look photo of the cast for the third Prince Harry and Meghan Markle movie by Lifetime network is garnering mixed reactions from the public. Lifetime has so far released two films about the royal couple — “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance” and “Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal”.
The role of Harry in the third film — “Harry & Meghan: Escaping the Palace” — will be played by “The Punisher” actor Jordan Dean while Sydney Morton of “She’s Gotta Have It” will play Meghan. The film will basically recount the story of the Prince and Duchess’s exit from the palace and their relationship with the Crown.
The photo of the on-screen couple just released sees Jordan and Sydney embracing but fans saw nothing to be excited about. “This looks TERRIBLE! Why even bother?”, a fan wrote on Twitter. “You must me joking…really?”, another Twitter user wrote.
Many are wondering why producers should capitalize on a family’s plight to make money. Others say it is entirely unnecessary because nobody wants to watch a film with an obvious ending.
The first two TV films had different casts for both Harry and Meghan. The first, which was 2018’s “Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance”, was with Parisa Fitz-Henley and Murray Fraser as the royal couple. “Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal”, which came out in 2019, had Charlie Field and Tiffany Marie Smith.
Per a press release, casting is underway for the rest of the cast for the third film, and production will begin this spring. Lifetime Canada is pulling out all the stops to release the film by the close of the year.
The film “explores what really happened inside the palace that drove Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to leave everything behind in order to make a future for themselves and their son Archie.
“The movie will detail Meghan’s growing isolation and sadness, their disappointment that ‘The Firm’ was not defending them against the press’s attacks, and Harry’s fear that history would repeat itself and he would not be able to protect his wife and son from the same forces that may have contributed to his mother’s untimely death,” the press release details.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle engaged in an extraordinary interview with Oprah Winfrey recently, which talked about the British Royal family. They spoke about their lives inside the palace, including making bombshell revelations about racism within the Royal Family, mental health, and how the last few years of their relationship have been like.
In the two-hour, pre-recorded tell-all, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who now live in Santa Barbara, opened up about their decision to step back from senior royal life. The Duchess of Sussex revealed she had suicidal thoughts as she struggled with life inside the royal family, finding it isolating and lonely.
“I just didn’t want to be alive anymore. And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought. And I remember how he [Harry] just cradled me.”
She said when she asked the palace for help, she was denied. “They said, my heart goes out to you because I see how bad it is, but there’s nothing we can do to protect you because you’re not a paid employee of the institution.”
