Forbes yesterday reported six newcomers to its annual list of “Africa’s 50 Richest“. Nigeria and Morocco had the highest newcomers at two each, with Kenya and Egypt producing one each.
The wealthiest newcomer with a reported net worth of $2.1 billion is King Mohammed VI of Morocco, who made his fortune from stakes in a mining company Managem Corp, sugar producer Cosumar, and a 40% stake in a Moroccan investment holding company which owns almost half of Attijariwafa, Morocco’s largest bank.
