Authorities in Brooklyn on Tuesday said an 18-year-old woman was fatally shot in the head while she was playing around with a gun and recording videos on TikTok with her friend.
According to Daily News, officers said the May 4 incident occurred in the lobby of an apartment building in Crown Heights. The deceased, identified as Adriana Graham, was found mortally wounded by responding officers. Graham was taken to a hospital with a bullet wound to the head. And she succumbed to her injuries on May 6.
Authorities believe the loaded firearm was discharged while Graham and her friend were playing with it. The NYPD has classified Graham’s death as a homicide, but no arrests have been made.
Following her passing, friends and family paid tribute to Graham on social media. The apartment the fatal incident occurred was also the scene of another fatal shooting in May 2020, per Daily News. The victim was a 16-year-old boy.
“The news told the story but didn’t show her face so it was important that I got this picture today as we spoke on the community violence at the place it happened,” Graham’s friend posted. “THIS IS HER SAY HER NAME ADRIANA GRAHAM.”
In an interview with New York Post, Graham’s uncle said the deceased teen was “a good girl.” “She’s not running around doing bad things,” he added.
Graham’s uncle also said his deceased niece was “just a girl”, and she “just turned 18 at the end of January.”
“It don’t seem real,” he said.
