It is so exciting to see that Africa is rapidly loosing its once extremely narrow image as the “dark continent,” where diseases and poverty are rife but development and progress are slow. Every acknowledgement of the vast beauty, amazing potential and unique opportunities in the continent is proof of the fact that Africa is finally being taken seriously.

Zambia and Mozambique Named “Hottest Travel Destinations” by Travel + Leisure MagazineAccording to Travel + Leisure Magazine, Zambia was one of the hottest travel destinations of 2011. The magazine states, “Raw and undeveloped, the game-rich nation of Zambia has long attracted veteran travelers for its rugged walking safaris and rustic bush lodges, but it has remained relatively under the radar. As a handful of major safari players lay the foundation for a bigger presence in the country, Zambia is poised to become the next great African destination.”

In its compilation of the hottest travel destinations of 2012, the magazine stated that Mozambique‘s North Coast is a must-visit hot spot: “This stretch of Indian Ocean coastline has upped the ante in recent years, with rustic-chic beach retreats giving way to polished lodges and ultra-luxe resorts to rival those of Mauritius and the Seychelles.”
