Nigerian music group, Blaqk Stereo Music Group (BSMG), has set a new Guinness World Record, for ‘The longest recording marathon with multiple artists.’
The founder of the music group, Emmanuel L. Hawwal Ogungbadero, and 29 other artists achieved the unprecedented record by recording for 40 hours and 19 minutes.
According to Guinness World Records, “Emmanuel hosted the event to support local artists from within his community and to give them a platform to express their creativity. 15 different artists performed throughout the attempt.”
According to Hawwal, who is also an actor and entrepreneur, the attempt was extremely challenging, however, the group was delighted to achieve the new record.
He further said the attempt was to promote Nigerian acts and music through a world-renowned platform such as the Guinness World Records.
“I am happy that the aim was indeed achieved. I intend to support local artists from within my community and give them a platform to express their creativity. It took us about three months to plan,” Hawwal said.
“The adjudication stage took a while until we eventually got the approval and we began processing for the certificate. We were resilient to the very end and we are happy that it is a success story today. We held the recording session at Sambol Production Studio in Lagos and we thank God that this has projected us to the world,” he added.
