23-year-old daughter of singer Fantasia Barrino, Zion Barrino, has achieved a significant milestone in her sobriety journey, marking 90 days of improvement.
Zion revealed how pleased she is with the progress made over the last three months, and expressed pride in knowing she had made a huge step towards finding her best self again.
“Happy 90 days to me,” Zion posted, insisting on her dedication to making a positive change in her life.
Zion’s announcement comes on the heels of rumors that circulated about her health, with some reports previously suggesting she had been admitted to the ICU in critical condition. She however took to her Instagram stories to play down the false reports earlier this year.
“I’m not in the ICU,” she clarified, adding in a follow-up story, “And wishing death on me is really f***ed up.”
Zion first opened up about her sobriety journey in August when she marked 60 days of being sober. At the time, she reflected on the challenges she faced and the support she had received from her loved ones.
“Today, I celebrate one of the hardest challenges in my life,” Zion shared on August 11. “I was sick for 3 weeks, but I pressed through, with the grace of God. I met some amazing people on this new journey and gained a community, love, and unbearable support from my family. Happy 60 days today to me . If you are struggling, I’m here to help and talk about my journey.”
Zion has not publicly disclosed what situation she faced or what she is recovering from, yet her openness and transparency serve as inspiration to others who also find themselves battling similar unknown struggles.
The 23-year-old’s life has been in the public eye from a young age, and growing up alongside her famous mother, Fantasia, who rose to stardom after winning ”American Idol”, she has decided to take it one step at a time, believing her efforts as crucial for the many years ahead of her.
Fantasia had Zion when she was only 17 years old after moving in with an abusive boyfriend and dropping out of school at just 14.
She has however stood strong over the years, and has made her daughter a central part of her journey to fame, and this period marks a significant transformation for both the mother and daughter.
Fantasia, who earned her GED in 2009, enrolled in college last year, and is pursuing her own journey of growth and education.
Barrino joined American idol when was 19, and although she was a single mom struggling to fend for herself and her child, she went on to win the season three edition, and that has gone on to heavily transform the life of her family.
