At last, Phillip H. can plan his next move with his newfound wealth and relax. The 57-year-old found himself in a difficult situation roughly a month ago when he misplaced one of his $500,000 winning tickets for Lucky for Life.
Phillip bought two tickets at Anacostia Mobil in Southeast D.C., and amazingly, both of them matched the five winning white ball numbers to win the game’s $25,000-a-year for life award.
With a $500,000 cash value for each of the winning tickets, Phillip—an environmental volunteer—had won a grand total of $1,000,000.
He told Lottery USA, “I always get two tickets, and I always pick my own numbers. That’s my winning strategy. I saw that the first ticket was a winner but couldn’t find the other ticket.”
He was a little agitated, though, due to the fact that he couldn’t find one of the tickets.
He was holding on to the first ticket prize, so he went straight to the DC Lottery Prize Center and claimed it. Over a month later, he cashed out his second win.
“I found it and let out a big sigh of relief after searching through old tickets,” he remarked.
After receiving both cash prizes, Phillip declared he would like to purchase a new truck to support his volunteer work and start a list of home repair tasks.
