A Nashville mother, Stephanie Dyer, has gone viral after sharing the amusing reactions of her older children to the news of her pregnancy. Stephanie, who was “very nervous” about their response, captured the moment her three children—Jalon, 27, Jaloni, 20, and Jasiah, 17—learned she was expecting another baby.
The 43-year-old told People, “They’ve never heard me talk about having another baby. They’ve always heard that mom is finished, and this was even after my youngest, Jasiah, begged me for a baby sibling when he was around 8 years old.”
The loving mother staged a ‘selfie’ on Thanksgiving, which turned out to be a surprise announcement in the now-viral video.
Once all her children were finally in position for the picture, the mom began counting down. Instead of a typical photo cue, she instructed them to say, “Mom’s pregnant,” revealing her exciting news.
Jaloni grasped the news instantly, her face registering surprise, while her brothers, Jalon and Jasiah, took a moment longer to understand what their mother was revealing.
Stephanie describes the moment as “perfect” because she was able to share the news with all of her children in person simultaneously.
“It was the perfect moment because I knew I wanted to tell them in person and capture it on video,” she explained. “With my daughter being away for college, at The Ohio State University and playing on the women’s basketball team, it’s not often that I get to have them all in one place, especially during basketball season. Thanksgiving Day was the best opportunity since Jaloni decided to come home because she initially had no plans of being in Nashville.”
Jaloni described her reaction in the video as “pure shock and pure love,” reflecting on the moment with the outlet.
“It was one of those moments you can’t script, and I’m glad my mom captured it,” she remarked. “Family has always been my foundation, and my mom is the center of that. I’m really excited to watch her step into this new chapter.”
After the news fully sank in, Stephanie shared that she had a heartfelt talk with her children at home. During the conversation, each child expressed their happiness for her and her 46-year-old husband, Nashville Dyer, and playfully guessed which sports the new baby might play in the future.
“Jokingly, Jaloni asked if it’s a boy, could this kid play baseball because we have enough hoopers in the family, and it’s time for us to take over in another sport,” Stephanie recounted.
“They are happy and have been so supportive ever since going and searching for a particular food craving for me to my oldest son, Jalon, ensuring that mom gets extra rest,” she added. “Jalon ensures my son Jasiah is taken care of by taking him back and forth to school, basketball practice, and to church.”
The mother of four-to-be first shared her pregnancy news with her children on Thanksgiving Day and then with her own mother.
She then announced the news to the rest of the family during their yearly Christmas Eve dinner. She told People that her family’s reactions were as amusing as her children’s.

She explained the special moment, saying, “I’m always over the games at every family function so to make the reveal interesting, I included the reveal as part of one of our games.” She added that the family was completely surprised and found the reveal very amusing.
Her excitement is magnified by the fact that her 43-year-old cousin, Vivian Horton, and her husband are also expecting a baby.
“We’ve done our entire life together,” she noted. “We’re two months apart in age, and now we get to raise our children together just like our mothers raised us together.” She added, “I know for certain it’s going to be very special.”
Stephanie is enthusiastic about her impending journey into motherhood, expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity. “I’m grateful God chose me to be a parent again. I’m grateful God trusts us to be the vessel for another human on earth,” she shared.
She also acknowledged the personal growth she’s experienced over the years, saying, “I’m grateful to be full of new wisdom and patience that I might not of had when my oldest three were younger.”
“I’m grateful that I only have to go home and take care of one little human and that I don’t have additional small kids at home,” Stephanie added. “Lastly, I’m exceptionally grateful that I’m not alone. We have such a huge village that are waiting to pour so much love into this baby.”
