Gail Lewis, a woman from suburban Atlanta, went viral after sharing a video claiming she discovered her husband was cheating on her two years ago thanks to an unexpected call from Delta Airlines.

This revelation came after she called the airline to confirm her husband Harold’s flight details, as he had told her he was traveling abroad for work. An airline employee informed her that he had arrived back earlier than expected, accompanied by a female, which led her to uncover his deceit.

On December 9, 2022, Lewis filed for divorce in Gwinnett County, Georgia, engaging the services of attorney Melanie D. Fenwick Thompson to help with the process. The initial court documents requested attorney fees and sought to prevent her husband from selling their assets, according to the Atlanta Black Star.

By January 6, 2023, Harold responded, prompting a lengthy legal discovery phase. During this time, Lewis discovered concerning details about her husband’s financial actions, including using their joint accounts— an American Express card — to pay for trips and gifts for other women.

Lewis also later found out that Harold had been involved with as many as 20 women over the years, leading to months of legal disputes. By mid-2024, Lewis was still seeking transparency regarding Harold’s financial accounts at firms like Fidelity and Merrill Lynch.

The comprehensive settlement agreement, filed in court on July 24, 2024, outlined how the couple’s marital assets would be divided. Lewis would keep their $1.3 million home, with her ex-husband responsible for paying the mortgage and related expenses. If the house were sold or refinanced, she would need to negotiate with him beforehand.

Lewis also retained her luxury vehicles, including a Bentley and an Audi. Meanwhile, Harold kept his Rolls-Royce Ghost and BMW. The couple divided assets, including jewelry and stocks, with Lewis receiving 40 percent of Harold’s $1.2 million in Delta SkyMiles and all of his 72,980 American Airlines Advantage Miles.

As per the settlement, Harold will also need to provide Lewis with half of his 22,591 restricted stock units in Rent-A-Center. He must also pay alimony to Lewis. Alimony payments were set at $48,000 per month for the first two years, decreasing to $40,000 for the next two years, $35,000 in the fifth and sixth years, and $30,000 in the final year.

In addition to these terms, Lewis received a one-time payment of $125,000 and $64,000 to cover forensic accounting and credit card fees incurred during the divorce process. In total, Harold is expected to pay $2.29 million in alimony and associated costs. Moreover, Lewis will remain the beneficiary of a $1.25 million life insurance policy on her ex-husband.

Both parties are prohibited from writing books, making movies, or publicly discussing their relationship as part of the settlement. This has disappointed Lewis’s online followers, who were eager for updates, especially since she had plans to create content as a YouTuber

Some fans have since compared Lewis to the former Mrs. Michael Jordan, who received $168 million in her 2006 divorce settlement, making it one of the most expensive celebrity divorces of all time.
