Ice Spice has broken her silence about the abrupt end to her New Year’s Eve performance at Australia’s Wildlands Festival. During a concert in Perth on January 4, the 25-year-old rapper behind the hit “Deli” issued a brief apology for arriving late and delivering a short set on December 31.

“I’m sorry guys, surely y’all can forgive me,” Ice told the crowd. “It was my birthday and it takes a long time to look like a Barbie.”

Ice Spice kicked off her Perth concert with “Barbie World,” her collaboration with Nicki Minaj, as reported by PEOPLE. According to The Guardian, the rapper was scheduled for a 30-minute set but arrived 25 minutes late.

Despite an additional minute granted by organizers, she managed to perform only two songs during her brief six-minute appearance.

At the time, the organizers of Australia’s Wildlands Festival shared a statement regarding Ice’s performance in the comments section of their Instagram account, per Billboard: “We understand that Ice Spice’s delayed arrival caused some frustration. Managing a stacked festival means that we have to be extremely firm with scheduled set times. We had a strict curfew of 12:30 and needed to ensure that Chase & Status went on stage on time so you could all enjoy the NYE Countdown!”

Ice Spice concluded her tour in Adelaide on January 5, wrapping up the global run supporting her debut album Y2K, which peaked at No. 18 on the Billboard 200.

The rapper had released a deluxe version of the album on Christmas Day, featuring five new tracks, including collaborations with DaBaby and NLE Choppa.

Speaking to Billboard in July, Ice Spice revealed her eagerness to dive into her next project.

“I am definitely so ready to start another album,” she told the publication. “So that’s great. I know my label is gonna be really excited to hear that.”
