During the season 7 premiere of The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian reflected on her relationship with her ex-husband, Kanye West, and how she always felt like she had a “bit of Stockholm syndrome” with him.
Kardashian, 45, also touched on having to protect her children anytime Kanye, 48, goes off. The former couple share two daughters and two sons.
Kardashian and Kanye tied the knot in 2014 before she filed for divorce in 2021. Kanye previously disclosed that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016, before later claiming that he had been misdiagnosed.
“I haven’t had psoriasis since I got divorced, and it just started coming back,” the billionaire socialite and businesswoman said, adding that Kanye recently made her feel “pretty tested,” PEOPLE reported.
When Kardashian, in a confessional, was asked what’s “going through her mind” when she witnesses Kanye behaving abnormally, she made mention of their children.
“My poor kids,” she revealed. “Everyone around can handle it, but like, protect my babies.”
Kardashian also revealed that one of their children recently got to know about their father’s actions.
“They’re gonna know things. They’re gonna grow up, they’re gonna see. So my job as a mom is to just make sure that — at a time when that behavior is happening — is just to make sure that they’re protected,” she said.
Kardashian touched on when she made up her mind to divorce Kanye, saying that she “always felt like I had a bit of Stockholm syndrome” with him, PEOPLE reported.
“I always felt really bad and always protected and always wanted to help [him],” she admitted, before revealing her thoughts at the time, “I should’ve stuck it out” or “I could’ve helped.”
However, she said “this was the first time I didn’t feel that responsibility personally.” “It is so f—— sad,” Kardashian said in reference to her current relationship with Kanye.
Kardashian also denied the perception surrounding her having the “luxury of walking away and not dealing [with him] ever again.”
“But then I’ll wake up, and it’s on Twitter that I’m keeping the kids,” she stated. “When it’s not true and not rational, I just have to … I can’t engage all the time. It’s a divorce — not a kidnapping.”
