Quinton Aaron, the actor best known for portraying former NFL star Michael Oher in The Blind Side movie, has been hospitalized and placed on life support after he collapsed at home, TMZ reported.

Despite his condition, Aaron is reportedly showing signs of improvement. The 41-year-old’s wife, Margarita, told the entertainment news outlet that despite being placed on life support, her husband was breathing on his own to some extent. His wife, who is a registered nurse, said that makes the family optimistic.

At the time of this report, Aaron had been in the hospital for four days, with his wife later saying that he “opened his eyes today and gave a thumbs up.”

Margarita said that Aaron has suffered a blood infection, and he’s undergoing a series of tests to enable doctors to ascertain the genesis of his condition. Aaron is, however, reportedly getting better by the day.

Margarita said that her husband’s health deteriorated when he felt sore after waking up one morning. Despite having neck and back pains, Aaron, however, thought that it was as a result of having a bad sleep. A couple of days later, Aaron’s legs went numb as he was climbing up the stairs.

Margarita said that she quickly went to her husband and helped him ascend the stairs, adding that she called 911 after he laid down, per TMZ. She also said that while Aaron was being transported to the hospital, he was going in and out of consciousness. Upon arrival at the hospital, Aaron was placed on life support.

Margarita  described her husband as a “fighter,” adding that he’s “showing a lot of improvement. We all have faith in God that he will walk out of here fully recovered.”
