The former partner of comedian Ryan Davis has publicly addressed a recent controversy sparked by comments he made about their preteen daughter.

Davis stirred outrage last week when, during an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s popular “Club Shay Shay” podcast, he referred to the young girl as a “gold digger.” This comment quickly went viral, leading to widespread condemnation across various social media platforms.

Ryan felt his daughter’s affection had shifted, claiming he was heartbroken. He stated, “My daughter went from ‘I love my dad’ to ‘Let me see what I can get out of him.'” He interpreted her desire to be around him as being purely motivated by material gain.

Ryan said his daughter saved his life when she was born because she made him a better man.

“I knew I couldn’t be a mediocre man anymore, because it would affect how she viewed men in general.”

The mother of his daughter publicly responded to his interview on TikTok, shared by Dominique Morgan. She stated that Ryan’s comments calling their 10-year-old daughter a “gold digger” were “hurtful and traumatic” for the girl.

The girl’s mother stated that her daughter felt unprotected by her father after seeing herself in viral videos.

“My daughter wasn’t protected in this situation at all. Explaining to an 11 yr old who stumbled across her face on social media as to why her face is all over strangers’ pages and why her father said what he said when, in fact, she doesn’t even ask for things from him has been the final straw.”

She said their daughter doesn’t ask her father for material things, and she was only 3 years old when Ryan left the relationship.

The statement read in part, “She was 3 when he moved away. And we never lived together. This entire thing has been very hurtful & traumatic for my daughter. I never say anything, but when it comes to my kids, I will always be vocal.”

In the same interview with Shannon, Davis also weighed in on the never-ending “Greatest of All Time” (GOAT) basketball debate during a podcast appearance.

While some fans champion legends like Wilt Chamberlain or Kobe Bryant, the conversation for the top spot almost always comes down to Michael Jordan versus LeBron James, as reported by the Basketball Network

Davis argued that James is the GOAT and provided several reasons to support “The King.”

Davis, who, like Jordan, is based in North Carolina, places James at the very top of his GOAT list. He justified this ranking by pointing to James’ remarkable longevity, the high caliber of his competition, and his incredible run of consecutive Finals appearances.

“To see a guy make 20-plus All-NBAs, be in the league 20 years and half of those years, he was in the Finals, with the skills that you see. People like Kevin Durant exist, they didn’t exist in Jordan’s time, he ain’t have to deal with that,” Davis said on the Club Shay Shay episode. “Steph Curry, that didn’t exist in Jordan’s time, he ain’t have to deal with that.”

“The game evolves, it evolves. Jordan is everything that you say he is… I believe you and I believe with all of that, he’s number two,” Davis added.
