During a February 5 interview with PEOPLE at the at the Los Angeles premiere of her new Peacock series, The ‘Burbs, Keke Palmer, 32, touched on how she balances her career with motherhood.

Palmer shares a her 2-year-old son, Leodis “Leo” Andrellton, with her ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson.

“There actually are three of me,” Palmer said. “It’s a lot,” she added. “I feel like after [having] my son I’ve become even more intentional with what I choose to do, how I choose to spare my time. I love everything that I do, but I think [I’m] always conscious to have a good team, to make sure that I can handle it all, and be able to organize it, ’cause it is a lot, but I do love it.”

The One of Them Days star also touched on how her son’s daily growth and new milestone achievements has positively impacted how she views life.

“The process of seeing him grow from being a little baby that didn’t speak to having words, opinions and a personality is incredible,” the 32-year-old said. “He’s teaching me most importantly, I think, just how to relax and how to live, you know what I mean?”

She added: “Like when you see your kid, it really is a mirror to you with your own life, but you’re able to give them … what you need to give to yourself. So it’s been a real blessing.”

“My son is everything to me, you know?” she continued.

Palmer also told PEOPLE that being a mother was the driving force behind her decision to feature in The ‘Burbs. Palmer, in the movie, portrays the mother of a newborn baby.

“It was actually kind of cathartic, because, well, the things that Samira was going through, even with her relationship and how that was impacted by having a child, and then postpartum and how, you know, you’re trying to process things [while also being] so porous because you just [had] this human. I really related to a lot of that — and the horror behind it,” she said.
