The Canadian-born, U.S.-based hip-hop sensation Drake features South African house music artist Black Coffee on his latest album, “More Life.”
The album, which is rapper Drake’s fifth studio release, dropped Saturday, according to the Juice, and it features Black Coffee as a guest artist on the fifth track, entitled “Get It Together.”
In the song’s introduction, “Get It Together” samples Black Coffee’s 2011 hit “Superman”:
However, singer Bucie’s vocals are replaced by U.K. singer Jorja Smith.
Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, has long challenged the music industry’s definitions of what rap music should sound like. He also regularly strives to create authentic music by incorporating sounds and influences from across different music genres.
In 2016, Drake’s fourth studio album, “Views,” features Nigerian Afro-hip superstar Wizkid on the hit single “One Dance”:
Wizkid even shares a song writer credit on the track, which turned out to be Drake’s first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100.
Earlier in his 2010 R&B mixtape, the Canadian singer/rapper also sampled the chorus to the song “Heartbeat” by Nigerian alternative music diva Nneka’s track “I’m Ready For You“:
