Indianapolis native Schenee Murry started gaining weight as a child when a cousin molested her.
After hitting 665 lbs and suffering from two miscarriages, the 28-year-old decided to get weight loss surgery with the help of hit series My 600-LB Life TV show.
The show features individuals who weigh more than 600 pounds and highlight the challenges they go through, both emotionally and physically with losing weight.
Murry was on the show put on a strict diet regime and asked to go for mental health counselling by the show’s bariatric surgeon, Younan Nowzaradan, M.D.
However, she never attended the therapy sessions recommended her and rather gained an additional 47 pounds in four months, according to news site People.
She subsequently left the program and blocked the numbers of her surgeon, Dr Nowzaradan and TLC, after her episode was aired on Wednesday, April 4.
“She made a choice to reject all the help offered to her and do this all on her own now,” the doctor was quoted by Ebony magazine.
Murry claims that the show falsely edited her story to humiliate her for ratings.
She has since started a GoFundMe page to raise money for weight loss surgery on her own.
But people have lambasted her for throwing away what they described as a perfect opportunity for her to lose weight.
Here are some of the responses:
@TLC The women you tried to help Schenee Murray get help and now she is lying and trying to sue your company and Dr. Now and she started a gofundme to scam people into giving her money while breaking the law. @SocialSecurity She shouldn’t get money while scamming others. pic.twitter.com/GpBkGhTICi

Schenee Murray, you suck! I don’t even feel sorry for you. Nor do I have any compassion for you. You should change your name to Excuses Excuses Excuses. I hope every doctor sees this, and treats you accordingly. #wasteoftime #600lblife

Schenee is raising that money for her grocery bill. If she’s still in Texas she needs to get with Dr. Now and get back on the program. #my600lblife WTH would anyone donate their hard-earned money when she’s not even working towards a goal? ?
