According to a poll conducted by the Thomson Reuters Foundation, India was found to be the most dangerous country for sexual violence against women, forced and domestic labour, as well as, human trafficking.
The poll, conducted between March 26 and May 4, surveyed 548 professionals on women’s issues, including health workers, NGO workers, policy-makers, and people in academia.
These poll focused on the following parameters: sexual violence, health care, cultural traditions, discrimination, non-sexual violence, and human trafficking.
The survey, which was a repeat of a similar one carried out in 2011, ranked war-torn Afghanistan and Syria in second and third place.
