Contrary to results expected by those who cry that feminism is un-African, it appears that the movement is growing stronger every day. In fact, the internet, coupled with social media, has fueled new waves of feminism that is challenging the status quo in Africa.
According to academics, feminism is characterized by its challenge to patriarchy, and “uses a gendered power analysis that contests political, social and other arrangements of domination based on gender”.
