Earlier today, two bodies were found in the lion enclosure of the Sibuya Reserve in South Africa. There might be a third body, although that has not been confirmed yet.
A long axe, a hunting rifle with a silencer and wire cutters were also found on the scene by an anti-poaching team.
The bodies found are reported to be of poachers who entered the enclosure without permission.
The reserve owner Nick Fox made a statement explaining that the poachers entered either Sunday night or early Monday morning.
“They strayed into a pride of lions – it’s a big pride so they didn’t have too much time. We’re not sure how many there were – there’s not much left of them,” Fox is quoted by the BBC. He also iterated that several lions had to be tranquillized before the scene could be investigated.
Law enforcement has been searching the area for more hunters.
