Following in their fathers’ footsteps, North West and Neal ‘Lil Novi’ Carter, the children of Kanye West and Lil Wayne, are continuing the tradition of musical collaboration.
North West recently announced that she produced “Justswagup,” a rage track featuring rapper MAG!C and Lil Novi. The song is a bass-heavy, ethereal rage banger showcasing North’s production, characterized by sandy synths and minimalist percussion consisting only of bass kicks, according to Hot New HipHop.
North West once again drew attention with the new instrumental she produced and shared online, after the recent rage-style track.
Fan reactions were mixed: some critics dislike this modern sound, while others embrace it, and many were simply pleased to see her exploring her creativity and following in her father, Ye’s, musical footsteps.
Beyond this latest production, North West has previously collaborated on music with her father and artists such as FKA twigs.

Lil Wayne’s son, Lil Novi, is also generating excitement, with fans enthusiastically responding to his music. His tracks are heavily influenced by the rage sub-genre, similar to the style of artists like Playboi Carti and the Opium label, Che, among others.
The song “Justswagup” is anticipated to receive increased attention on streaming platforms. This follows North West’s announcement on her Instagram Story this week that she produced the instrumental.
She frequently shares new beats on Instagram, suggesting a strong and growing interest in music production.
This indicates that the eldest child of Ye and Kim Kardashian may be preparing to release an album or pursue future collaborations. Irrespective of subjective opinions on the music’s quality, this development is being celebrated as a continuation of a shared family musical legacy.
North West only recently joined Instagram, marking her debut with a chic post on December 19th, according to E! News.
The 12-year-old uploaded a slightly blurred photo, captioned “first post,” where she is seen holding up peace signs while looking away from the camera.
The image highlighted her acute sense of style, as she is dressed in a black mini skirt, a graphic t-shirt, and sparkly boots, complete with bold statement jewelry.
Despite her Instagram biography stating that her account is “managed by parents,” Kanye—who is also father to Saint (10), Chicago (7), and Psalm (6) with Kim—has previously criticized the SKIMS founder for permitting their children to use social media.
Kanye said at the time, “Hey everybody, I just got off the phone with Kim, and I told her to stop antagonizing me with this TikTok thing.”
“I am her father,” he continued. “I know y’all don’t respect fathers and the idea of family and the media tries to promote something. I said, ‘I’m not allowing my daughter to be used by TikTok, to be used by Disney.’ I have a say so.”
His remarks were made following a TikTok post on North and Kim’s joint account (launched in 2021). The post featured North, then 8, singing Machine Gun Kelly’s popular track “Emo Girl” with her cousin, Penelope Disick.
Kim responded to his comments just hours later, writing on Instagram Stories, “Kanye’s constant attacks on me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create.”
“As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision—because it brings her happiness.”
Kim has publicly supported her eldest daughter’s recent style choices, which feature bleached eyebrows and a finger piercing.
