Ace Liam, a one-year-old Ghanaian, has clinched the Guinness World Record for the Youngest Male Artist. The record, previously held by a 3-year-old, was achieved during attempts made in Accra between January 18 and January 20, 2024.
This feat was officially announced at a press conference on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, as reported by citinewsroom. The confirmation letter indicated: “We are thrilled to inform you that your application for Youngest Artist (male) has been successful and you are now the Guinness World Records Title Holder!”
“You are eligible to receive one complimentary certificate. Congratulations! You are officially amazing,” stated the email sent by Guinness World Records to Ace’s mother.
Chantelle Eghan, the mother of Ace, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ghanaian community for their support during her son’s record-breaking attempt.
Little Liam began painting at just six months old. The previous record holder, Dante Lamb, attained the feat at the age of three back in 2003. Dante’s abstract paintings are now displayed at the Monkey Love Dessert Bar in Georgia. His artistic journey began with the sale of his first piece on October 6, 2003, fetching $85.
Ace’s mother said as part of the attempt at breaking the record, Ace had to participate in an art exhibition and sell some of his paintings, as it was a requirement, according to the BBC. They also had to submit evidence of the artwork sales to Guinness World Records along with other information.
This led his mother to participate in the SoundOut Premium Art Exhibition held in Ghana from December 15, 2023, to January 21, 2024. Ace’s mother also clarified that “the paintings done by the child are abstract paintings.”
At least nine paintings created by the one-year-old were included in the exhibition, all of which have been purchased by attendees. Some patrons from the U.S. and UK also acquired some of Ace’s paintings.
The First Lady of Ghana, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, received one of the child’s paintings. The young genius joins other Ghanaians who have broken records including 29-year-old Abubakar Tahiru, who secured the title for the most trees hugged in an hour.
