Ali Farka Tourè

Ali Ibrahim Tourè was born in Mali on October 31, 1939, in Timbuktu, Mali.

Becoming mayor of Niafunkè, his hometown, he personally supplying the town with a generator for electricity, repairing the roads and installing sewer canals.

Tourè died on March 6, 2006, in Bamako, Mali.

His music still lives on, as evident from the use of a single he featured on named “Bèrèbèrè in 2018’s “Black Panther.”
