Christ Church (Christuskirche)
This is one of the most famous places in Windhoek because of the history attached to the place. It can be seen from the Windhoek Zoo Park and remains one of Windhoek’s well-known monuments.
It was proclaimed a national monument on 29th November 1974.
The internal and external beauty of the church, which was built in the early 1900s, makes up for its uniqueness. It is based on the idea of a basilica with its walls constructed from Windhoek sandstone.
The portal of the Church is of Italian-Carrarian marble, with features that complement the neo-Romanic style, combined with an art nouveau influence.
