5 African musicians who are keeping Fela Kuti's Afrobeat music very much alive

Orchestra Poly Rythmo de Cotonou- Benin

The Orchestra Poly Rythmo de Cotonou is the most popular Afrobeat band in Benin that has produced hits after hit since the late 1960s. The band released its first album in 1973, and have since then been known as  “Tout Puissant” which translates as All Mighty.

The band has since it started released more than 500 songs and inspired several bands and other musicians in Benin. They have won several awards and go on a worldwide tour in 2009. The band takes inspiration from the Tempos from Ghana and Fela Kuti who have has even inspired their sense of fashion in the 70s.
