Moussa Traoré

Moussa Traore’s military training came from Kita in Mali and the military academy in Fréjus, France. In 1960, he returned to serve in the Malian army.

Traore led a group of soldiers to overthrow Mali’s first president, Modibo Keita in 1968. He then went on to serve as the head of state from that year until 1991.
