In 2018, bombs are still being placed and detonated in black communities
Highly disturbing and reminiscent of Molotov bombs being thrown in black homes in the 1960s, just yesterday, two bombs were set off in Austin, Texas killing a teenage boy and wounding an elderly black woman as reported by the Associated Press. There were also incidents of a Hispanic woman being wounded on March 12th and an explosion by way of a packaged bomb delivered to a town 12 miles away from Austin on March 2nd that resulted in the fatality of a 39-year-old black man.
ABC News reported Police Chief Brian Manley as saying: “This is the third in what we believe to be related incidents over the past 10 days.” Manley suggested that the incidents were a hate crime but later shifted gears and said authorities “had not settled on a motive.” Manley then went on to say, “We are not ruling anything out at this point,” “the intended targets were not clear since multiple people live in the homes where explosives were placed.” “We are willing to investigate any avenue that may be involved.” A clear connection, yet the motive still needs to be investigated? Hmmm okay.
