Veteran actress Genevieve Nnaji is usually one of the foremost names that surfaces when Nollywood is mentioned. Starting her acting career as a child actress in the then-popular television soap opera “Ripples” at the age of 8, she has gone on to star in over 80 Nollywood movies.

Her success has been one of the most exceptional to date; she has been presented with numerous awards and titles across the globe, including Best Actress at the 2001 City People Awards, Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2005 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), face of Lux in 2004, and ranked #19 in Forbes’ “40 Most Powerful Celebrities in Africa (2011). More recently, she was featured on Elle Magazine’s “International Superstars: The Next Big Crossover Acts” list (2013) and the 2014 ELOY Awards, receiving the title of Etisalat Brand Ambassador of the year.

Aside from her apparent gleaming looks and alluring lifestyle, Nnaji has a solid business acumen. She owns a clothing line called St. Genevieve, which donates a percentage of its proceeds to charity. Once, she even made history by being the first Nigerian actress to be profiled on The Oprah Winfrey Show (1986), on an episode about the most popular people around the world. Her success stories are endless! Even though she is recognized as one of the highest paid actresses in Nigeria, the timeless beauty remains humble. Hollywood would probably be second nature to her.
