Rwanda and Uganda

A diplomatic feud has been ongoing between the two countries for the past two years now. Their dispute is based more on accusations of interference in each other’s affairs, as reported by the BBC. This got intense last week when Rwanda closed its main border with its neighbour, Uganda. Rwanda has accused Uganda of sheltering its dissidents, some of whom it has reportedly forcibly repatriated in the past, according to African Arguments. Uganda has also accused Rwanda of “planting spies” in its security apparatus, many of whom it claims to have arrested or deported. The leaders of both countries have since engaged in what the media reports as war of words. The issue is, however, having a toll on cross-border trade and affecting the daily lives of families of both countries.
