Ruins of Loropeni

The popular Ruins of Loropeni are located in Southern Burkina Faso about 40 kilometers west of Gaoua. The site comprises of ancient stone ruins of Loropeni town, which served as a market center.

The ancient fortress is believed to have been built at least 1,000 years ago. The Ruins of Loropeni are the country’s first attraction site to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
